Call for Artists: Community Mural Project
Halperin Park is seeking proposals from local artists to create a new mural at our East Dock offices. The mural will celebrate Oak Cliff’s neighborhoods, landmarks, history, and cultural significance, reflecting the diversity and depth of the community as a whole. We are looking for artwork that is place-based, inclusive, and community-rooted - a visual story that honors Oak Cliff’s past while reflecting its present and future.
Project Overview
The selected mural should:
Reflect Oak Cliff’s history, landmarks, and cultural importance
Represent the breadth of Oak Cliff, highlighting multiple neighborhoods, stories, and experiences
Be original, engaging, and appropriate for a public-facing community space
Art must reflect Oak Cliff neighborhoods on both sides of I-35
Eligibility
Open to local artists with a connection to Oak Cliff or the surrounding area
Individual artists or artist teams are welcome to apply

Timeline
Proposal Deadline: March 9th
Selection Process: March 10th - March 16th
Announcement: March 20th
Mural Deadline: April 3rd
Installation Timeline: March 20th - April 3rd
Completion Event: A small ribbon-cutting reception and community mixer will take place once the mural is finished
Submission Requirements
Please submit:
A brief written proposal describing your mural concept
Sketches or visual references (can be rough)
A short artist bio, connection to Oak Cliff, and examples of past work
Proposed budget for materials
Compensation
Selected artist will be paid $2,000
Materials will be paid up to $500
